Kirkland Concert Band

ABOUT US

The Kirkland Concert Band was formed in 1984 and since then has been under the musical direction of Patrick Downs. 2014 marked our 30th anniversary.

The KCB serves residents of the City of Kirkland by performing in a summer concert series, as well as at various municipal events. We also perform throughout Montreal and neighbouring West Island communities. See our concert schedule.

The band is always seeking new membersThe KCB's only requirements are enthusiasm, ability to read music, ability to play a band instrument (even if it’s been a really long time since you last played). If you would like to become involved please contact us for more information.

HISTORY

In the 1970’s, Rosemere High School (north of Montreal) offered an adult concert band “course”. After a number of years, band members voted to leave the school board and formed an independent organization, known as the Northshore Concert Band. By 1984, a growing number of band members were living on the West Island in Montreal and wanted to rehearse closer to home.  The city of Kirkland was approached and a sponsorship deal was established.  As a result, the band moved to Kirkland and has since been known as the Kirkland Concert Band.
