Welcome to the home page of the Kirkland Concert Band, based in Kirkland, Quebec, Canada.
What makes a group of people volunteer to give up their Wednesday evenings and occasional weekends throughout the year, in order to make music and entertain the public?
Well, perhaps you could say we do it for trills. In fact, we do it for the love of it, and we have fun in the process. That's important, because if we didn't, we'd be no fun to listen to! |

So Just WHAT is a Concert Band Anyway?
The term "concert band", sometimes called “symphonic band” or “wind ensemble”, denotes a group consisting of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, generally including somewhere between twenty and fifty members. Similar to a marching band, only without the marching.
Most high school bands fit this description, and in fact many members of the Kirkland Concert Band are former high school band members who never became professional musicians, but who never lost their love of making music. This is true of many other community concert bands as well. The musical repertoire of a concert band is quite varied, including (in no particular order) classical and light classical, rock, marches, jazz, blues, Dixieland, and theme music from television, movies and musical theatre. In fact, just about anything can be arranged for concert band, and usually is! | | |
